Chateau le Puy Emilien Saint-Cibard 2020
Biodynamic
The fruit of a plot of vines planted with 85% Merlot, 7% cabernet franc, 6% cabernet sauvignon, 1% malbec and 1% carménère, Emilien is matured in seasoned large oak barrels and casks for 24 months. It is always a medium bodied, silky, elegant wine with very fine tannins.
This vintage is great in Bordeaux and has forged and Emilien that will keep for many years; it is slightly deeper in colour than the 2019 that we last shipped and has an attractive garnet/ruby colour and light purplish hues. The nose is as always complexed witsh blueberry, cassis and redcurrant with hints at sous-bois and gravel. In 2020 the wine is again superb quality, medium-bodied it is very precise, with fine tannins paving the way for a very long and complex finish. 2020 has provided a bounty, everything is kicked up a notch and this is a wine of great finesse, sensual in its youth but also with the potential to age and grow for several decades, revealing the full depth and character of this superb terroir. The epitome of elegance and refinement, this wine will cellar to advantage for 20-30 years. Wholesaler Notes.
