A visit to Ochota Barrels last month only confirmed what we already knew: Taras Ochota is producing some of the best wines coming out of the region, and he has been doing it since 2008. Our visit to Taras was based around a tasting of the brand new 2019 wines which are all at various stages of vinification. Some ‘wines’ were so young that fermentation had not yet begun, while others were halfway through the fermentation process. Others had completed fermentation and were just starting out on the ageing process in barrel. 2019 is already shaping up as a beautiful yet alas, very small vintage. - Ian Cook, FWC.
