The Cook family visited Pietradolce in January 2019. What a revelation: this is now my favourite Sicilian producer from the northern slopes of the volcano. Pietradolce sits high on the slopes of Mt Etna with its ‘sweet stone’ minerality derived from the volcanic soil, cool nights and warm days endowing the wines with a precision, richness, minerality, fragrance and a depth of flavour that is unique to this microclimate.

All of the wines below are outstanding summer drinking and offer drinkers a deeper look into the wide world of wine. Beyond the Pietradolce wines, the Girolamo Russo Bianco shows more richness than its neighbour, while the Girolamo Russo Rosso and the Graci Rosso are interesting counterpoints and comparisons.
