James Halliday's Top 100 Wines of 2019
James Halliday has recently released his much-anticipated Top 100 Wines of 2019. Among the many outstanding wines that made the list, we are pleased to currently offer the following:
Bollinger Special Cuvee Brut NV
Bollinger is second only to Krug with the depth and complexity of its reserve. The accent is firmly on pinot noir from Premier and Grand Cru sources. Small wonder it is of towering power and complexity capable of handling any food match. An exceptional bargain. 96 points – James Halliday's Top 100 Wines of 2019
"I visited Bollinger yesterday morning and marvelled at its Special Cuvée Brut just as I marvelled over it when I visited a year ago. Again it scored among the best entry non-vintage wines in Champagne. The recipe is astounding: A blend of 245 wines, more than eighty percent of which are grand cru and premier cru. A very high fifty-five percent is reserve wine (older vintages) aged in magnum under cork and disgorged by hand. It spends a minimum of three years on lees in the Bollinger cellars. No other champagne at this price has such a recipe. 95 Points." Tyson Stelzer.
Billecart-Salmon Brut Reserve NV
Exceptional non-vintage Champagne. The House style is wonderfully light, elegant and flavoursome with complexity and strength all in beautiful balance. The trademark of this House is the unusually long fermentation. The aroma is of fresh scented apples, soft bready yeast with a hint of toast and finesse absent from some of the larger houses. – FWC
An uncommon blend of 40% pinot meunier and 30% each of pinot noir and chardonnay, with 40% reserve wines, fermented in a mix of tank and use of aged oak barrels. Deliberate choice of meunier is the key to its drink any time soon style, which combining elegance, finesse and great length. 95 Points – James Halliday's Top 100 Wines of 2019
