Renato Ratti Barolo Marcenasco 2018
A classic Barolo hue of pale red cherry into an orange/copper rim. The nose is youthful and pretty, showing red fruit, red liquorice, rose petal and orange zest. On the palate the wine deliciously succulent and immediately appealing. The red cherry and red liquorice notes are again present, with alpine freshness an attractive feature in the second half of the wine. Pockets of sweet fruit gentle present themselves on an otherwise pleasantly drawn-out and linear mid palate. Tannins are fine and powdery. While the wine is young, it already looks great and already provides immense enjoyment. Another great Ratti. - Ches Cook, FWC.
This is a classic wine proudly made with consistency over the years by the Ratti family. The 2018 Barolo Marcenasco comes from a vineyard in La Morra that has always been farmed by this estate (but that is not an official MGA). However, it is a brand in its own right known for its especially silky tannins and delicate fiber. The wine shows close-knit aromas of small berries, candied violet and crushed stone. Drink 2024-2037. 93 Points. Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate.
