The noble Nerello Mascalese grape performs at its best at 500 metre altitude on the famed northern side of Mt Etna. Pale colour, with lots of orange, cherry and fragrant spices. Light, yet complex and very mineral and persistent. Red cherry, spicy pomegranate, gamey/meaty complexity to add to its fresh acid length. Once swallowed (all to easy to do) you get an ashy, mineral and ferrous persistence – really terrific drinking in all sorts of circumstances. B-B-Q , a little salami, tomato based pasta………   Highly recommended. –  Ian Cook, FWC
