Frank Cornelissen Munjebel Bianco 2021
Grecanico Dorato 50%, Carricante 50%.
For me, this is often Frank’s most consistent and best wine, or at least the one I repeat offend on the most. It’s usually around a blend of 50% grecanico dorato and 50% carricante, from the northern slopes of Etna and a few different vineyards. Textural white, is the game.
It’s a beautiful wine, pretty with its floral lift, chamomile, lemon ginger tea, some whiffs of sea spray, some green apple (dried and fresh), a touch of smoky spice and minty herbs. Slips over the palate well, delivers some crunch and a long trail of briny minerality. It doesn’t seem flashy or deep this year, does its job well, is a thirst-quencher with some pizzazz. Pure, bright, distinct. Good gear. Drink 2023-2027. 93 Points. Mike Bennie, The Wine Front.
