Fattoria Selvapiana Chianti Rufina 2022

Chianti Rufina is the most northerly sub zone of the Chianti region, and often considered the best after Chianti Classico. It's a cooler, higher altitude area of which Selvapiana are arguable the top producer in the region.

This is a beautiful example of Sangiovese from a cooler area - it's fragrance is so lifted, it's weight so fine and elegant. Pretty red fruits are trailed by a fine dusting of spice and fennel. Signature Sangio dusty tannin artfully frames the palate and concludes with a moreish amaro-like bitterness. Well recommended. Jeremy Muller, FWC.
