Henschke - World Class
The Henschke family has been making wine since Johann Christian Henschke planted a small vineyard by hand on his diverse farming property in Keyneton in 1862. Today, fifth-generation Stephen Henschke and his wife Prue are passionately upholding the family name and reputation.
Henschke Keyneton Euphonium 2022
Deep crimson with ruby hues. Intensely perfumed aromas of raspberry, blackberry, black plum, violets and almond blossom, with nuances of bay leaf, vanilla pod, black pepper and dried herbs. The palate leads with dark forest fruits, supported by baking spice, sage and Dutch cocoa, balanced by fine-grained tannins and refreshing acidity for a long, lingering finish. Winery note.
59/33/6/2% shiraz/cabernet sauvignon/cabernet franc/merlot; 60/40% blend of Eden Valley/Barossa grapes. The 2022 release smells plummy and expressive with layers of spice, dried herbs, sage, bay leaf, blackberry pastille, tobacco leaf olive tapenade and earth. Some lovely nutty oak tones roll through on the palate, which shows wonderfully pure black fruits, fine, silty tannins and a vibrant line. 94 pts, Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion

Henschke Wheelwright Shiraz 2021
Organic and biodynamically raised shiraz from the Henschke's Eden Valley property; matured in French and American oak for 18 months. An expressive offering from the low-yielding 2019 vintage that shows the trademark Henschke elegance. Supple blackberry and blueberry fruits with hints of fine spice, crushed herbs, sage, redcurrant, purple florals, cedar and a liminal glimpse of wintergreen in the background. Fine, powdered sandy tannins and lacy acidity a simpatico base for the graceful fruits travel across the palate, finishing long and true. 95 Points, Drink 2024 to 2044, David Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion.

Henschke Mt Edelstone Shiraz 2021
I used to live next door to this 109-year-old vineyard for nearly a decade and have seen the hard work and attention to detail that goes into its farming. The 2021 is an absolute stunner from a great vintage and I've no doubt that this will age gracefully for decades. The length of flavour with this release is quite something; the fruit is sleek, plush and on-point pure. Blackberry, Doris plum and black cherry layer with spice and hints of sage, bay leaf, pepper, olive tapenade, anise, violets and stone. Velvety and graceful in its flow on the palate with a fresh mineral cadence and superfine, powdered granitic tannins for support. It'll go down as one of the greats.98 Points, Drink 2024 to 2054, David Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion.

Henschke 'Cyril' Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
A blend of organic/biodynamically farmed 99/1% cabernet sauvignon/merlot from the Cyril Henschke vineyard in the Eden Valley from the outstanding 2021 vintage. A beautiful bright magenta/crimson in the glass with a pretty, lifted aromatic profile. Plum, blackberry and blackcurrant with notes of sage, bay leaf, dried herbs, violets and crushed stone. Fruit pure and detailed with a very long, graceful finish and superfine, powdery, granitic tannins. A wonderful release for the Cyril Henschke.
