Rebholz Kastanienbusch Riesling GG 2021
Biodynamic
The Kastanienbusch (or chestnut bush), one of the steepest and highest slopes in the Pfalz at 300 meters, on red slate soil that is unusual in the region. This iron-rich, well-draining soil produce wines of great concentration. It simply produces some of the greatest dry Rieslings not only in Germany – but anywhere.
This smells like breaking open a beautifully ripe passion fruit! The palate of this great dry riesling has a very sleek silhouette, but an enormous amount of complex minerality (think every shade of rock from red to black) packed into it. Like a tight rosebud that needs time to unfurl its tightly folded beauty. From biodynamically grown grapes with Respekt certification. Drinkable now, but best from 2024. 98 Points – Stuart Pigott, JamesSuckling.com.
