Trimbach Brand Grand Cru Riesling 2020
Trimbach bought these 2 parcels of 70+ year old vines on granite and mica in 2018. From just 0.85 hectare of vines averaging 65yo in the granite based soils of this south-facing Grand cru located in Turckheim is this very first release in extremely limited quantities.
Importer's notes.
The Trimbach 2020 Grand Cru Brand Riesling is from two plots adding up to one hectare in this prestigious Turckheim site. Aged on the lees until March of the second year after the harvest, the wine shows delicate, bright fruit and spiciness on the nose along with lemon and granite notes. Fine-grained on the first attack, this is a playful, delicately juicy, dense and elegant Riesling with quite a lot of power on the finish. The wine is dry, pure, saline and grippy and reveals finesse and an almost buoyant character, yet it remains very intense on the aftertaste. The wine still needs time and won't be released before April of next year. 13.7% stated alcohol. Tasted under time pressure at the domaine in May 2022.

'An amazing dry riesling that richly deserves the Grand Cru designation. Wonderful nose of ripe pineapple with smoky and spicy notes. Very powerful, but every bit as elegant. Staggeringly mineral finish that takes your breathe away. So pure! Great aging potential. From over 80-year-old vines. Drink or hold.'
