Michelot Noellat Chambolle Musigny 2021
Coming from two parcels in Chambolle. The first plot is 'Les Foucheres'which is located just north of the Grand Cru 'Les Musigny' and borders the 1er Cru 'Les Borniques' so a seriously great location for village level Chambolle. The other parcel comes from Combottes wedged between 1er cru Les Plantes and Beaux Bruns. 1.22ha of 30 year old vines. 12 months maturation and 30% new oak.
This brilliant ruby colour Chambolle has a nose of earthy red fruits, black tea and wilted roses which echo on the medium bodied palate with fresh raspberry, black cherry and red currant fruits, brambly spices, mineral tones, youthful vibrance with zesty acidity and underbrush making for exciting and expressive Pinot Noir.
'Aux Combottes is part 1er cru and that bit will be made separately in 2022 along with a new domaine 1er Cru, details to be advised. Mid red purple. Just a little wild on the nose. 30% new wood, helps build the mid-palate balance. A slight banana note. Otherwise the wine is clean and pure. Drink from 2025-2030. Tasted: December 2022.' 88-90 Pts, Inside Burgundy, Jasper Morris, Dec 22.
