Michel Noellat Morey St Denis 2021
Deep earthy dark berry, cherry and plum fruits with a nice array of spices, black tea, floral notes, burnt orange, smoky mineral and soft wood shavings make for an outstanding Pinot Noir experience, showcasing old world charm, delicacy and elegance. With more air it comes alive with beautiful crushed flowers along with some savoury elements that added to the complexity of this fine effort. The Morey-Saint-Denis always rivals the more costly Chambolle but at a fraction of the price. 1ha of 12 year old vines on a mix of red-brown clay with small rocks and limestone soils. 12 months maturation in 30% new oak.
'Medium crimson purple. Quite an elegant nose. An extra degree of velvet texture on the attack, then a little firmer behind. Middleweight and attractively balanced. Drink from 2025-2028. Tasted: December 2022.' 88-91 Pts, Inside Burgundy, Jasper Morris, Dec 22.
