Le Clos du Caillou Chateauneuf du Pape 'Safres' 2022

I don't drink a lot of Chateauneuf as i often find the wines to be excessively extracted and alcoholic. Not the case here. This is a bright and medium bodied wine with red fruit flavours and a silky mouthfeel. Maybe the elegance in the wine comes from the high percentage of Grenache or perhaps it's due to the high sand content of the soils. Maybe the skill of the winemaker is at play, too. Whatever it is, it works. Very good Chateauneuf du Pape. - Ches Cook, FWC.
