Jules Desjourneys Moulin a Vent 'Le Styx' 2019
Incorporating Duperray's holdings in Chassignol, which are frequently apart, this is a beautiful wine offering up aromas of cherries, sweet berries, peonies and vine smoke, followed by a full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate that's rich and layered, with lively acids and a long, sapid finish. Sensual and textural, it's a vibrant and polished wine that's worth a special effort to seek out.

Faintly reductive, less faintly spiced. A more supple shape, silky texture but with some intensity to this flavour too. A finishing flavour that vibrates and subtly rests, haunting the palate. More sophisticated than the Chénas but there’s a bit more character in the Chénas today.
