Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2020 375ml

Just tasted as the lead in red at as special Guigal lunch at Rockpool (31/7/2024) Guigal makes 4 million bottles of this wine and it's bloody good. 50% Syrah plus mainly Grenache and Mouvedre. Sweet plum, raspberry, licorice, a touch of lilac; very rounded and generous. Finishing with soft brown spices, dusty pepper and perfectly pitched tannins.  Amazing quality at this level. They buy fruit from nearly 500 growers, pay above normal rates for fruit and pay for that fruit immediately. The growers love them - and are always on notice to deliver quality. It's a great story.
