Cascina Penna Currado - A New Winery with Old Soul
Cascina Penna-Currado is the result of our family history. We have been custodians of a winemaking cultural heritage for 5 generations, first with the Vietti family winery here in Langa, where Luca personally created the wines and every production detail for over 30 years and Elena took care of sales and marketing, and starting in 2023 with this new project of ours. Winery Note.
Cascina Penna-Currado Nebbiolo Langhe Bricco Lago 2023
Luca Curado ex-Vietti owner's new project.
The Cascina Penna-Currado 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo Bricco Lago shows a streamlined personality with red and purple fruits folded into lightly toasted spice and earthy aromas. This vintage has a sweet side matched by a savory side, and despite the heat and challenges of the vintage, Bricco Lago, with old-vine fruit, shows impeccable winemaking with a very clean and polished style. Drink 2025-2029. 92 points. - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate.

Cascina Penna-Currado Colli Tortonesi Timorasso Derthona 2023
Luca Curado ex-Vietti owner's new project.
The Cascina Penna-Currado 2023 Colli Tortonesi Timorasso Derthona (with the initials "E.P." on the front label) represents a well-contemplated continuation of a project started when Elena Penna and Luca Currado were at the helm of the Vietti winery. In fact, they are two of the most vocal spokespeople for the Timorasso grape, which is growing in popularity. This age-worthy wine shows aromas of peach, pear and honey-glazed almond. With time, it should develop a more pronounced minty or mineral side. Drink 2023-2032. 93+ points. - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate.

Cascina Penna-Currado Dolcetto d’Alba Bricco Lago 2023
Luca Curado ex-Vietti owner's new project.
This Dolcetto knocks it out of the park and is one of my favorite expression of the grape from what will be remembered as a challenging year with summer heat spikes. The Cascina Penna-Currado 2023 Dolcetto d'Alba Bricco Lago is also a terrific value that offers the bright flavors and plump blueberry intensity you want when pairing with your favorite pasta dish or a wood-oven flatbread. With 35 years of winemaking experience, vintners Elena Penna and Luca Currado knew exactly what style they wanted to achieve with this entry-level red. The inspiration is Beaujolais. Indeed, some whole-cluster fruit is used. The results are simple and fresh but not banal. The idea is to appeal to a new generation of young wine drinkers. Drink 2024-2028. 92 points. - MonicaLarner, Wine Advocate.
