Vino Volta Nothing Wrong With Old Skool Chenin Blanc 2022
Finger lime, flint, whiffs of lanolin... a steely nose with hints of mango. A Silken and generous texture on the palate with underpinning of nervy acid. Notes of Green apple, melon, lemon zest with a finish of impressive length. Delightful Chenin showing well witha couple of years in bottle. Mitch Milicich, FWC
The fruit here in this 2022 Nothing Wrong with Old Skool Chenin Blanc is from a new vineyard source: the Fishtail Vineyard, located just near Sandalford in the Swan Valley. Cut pear, cheesecloth, brine, waxy flowers and green apple skins describe the 2022 vintage eloquently. I’m tasting outside on a hot summer day in the Swan (actually, not hot by the Swan standard, but a solid 33 degrees Celsius), and the cicadas create the backdrop. As with all Chenin, I can’t wait to see this with a couple of years in bottle. All signs point towards very good things. Tasted only a month or so prior to release. 94 points, drink 2023-2033, Erin Larkin, The Wine Advocate.
Squeaky, squishy textured with lemon curd, lemon ginger tea notes, a touch of slippery honeyed nuttiness, some sweet spice. green apple. Very aromatic, good sense of concentration, excellent persistence. It’s a wonderful and easy drink and does the DNA of the variety so very well. Love it. 92 pts, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front
