Riley Harrison 'Black Hound' Syrah 2023
A wine that we have been following for a number of vintages now. This is every bit as good as past releases: Medium bodied with a dark and succulent core showing black olive, mulberry and grilled meat. The acid is lively and refreshing and tannin only moderate. A delicious drink from start to finish. Riley puts it best by calling this "Decadent hedonism dressed up as a nonchalant party boy." - Ches Cook, Five Way Cellars.
Syrah from the cool climes of the Adelaide Hills. These grapes are sourced from the Murdoch Hill vineyard just outside of Oakbank. 30% whole bunch fermentation and only minimal hand plunging. 9 months in seasoned French oak. Spicy and lifted, this Syrah leaps from the glass. Loaded with plush dark berries, olive tapenade and pepper-crusted game, all coiled around a firm arrow of long, powdery tannin. Decadent hedonism dressed up as a nonchalant party boy. Riley's notes.
