Riggs & Wiggs 'Mangerton' Block 1 Semillon 2024

Semillon, the traditional white grape of the Hunter Valley, was first planted at Mangerton Vineyard by Alfred Wilkinson and his eldest son, Charles, in 1866. Max Drayton replanted in 1978 using cuttings from the 1899 Semillon vines on Oakey Creek Road.

Block 1 is on a south facing, clay loam slope. Bright green/yellow colour, with lime and tropical fruit flavours. Perfect for long term cellaring.

An outstanding Sydney Harbour lunch with Yamba king prawns & avocardo. Pretty hard to beat. Brimming with youthful energy. Aromatic with an array of tropical fruit, waxy citrus and surprisingly generousity in the mouth. Underneath a coiled spring of acidity. Drink or cellar up to 10 years.  Ian Cook - FWC
