Patrick Sullivan 'Bullswamp' Chardonnay 2024
A fascinating amalgamation of flavours here, spanning lemongrass and Asian herbs, through to citrus oil and lime leaf, before richer/riper flavours of succulent, golden peach appear. But then a saline edge cuts through that richness and fleshy acid provides salivating freshness. Very impressive stuff. – Ches Cook, FWC.
A site that seems to throw off saline mineral character in the wine, typically, explains winemaker Pat Sullivan, and the water from the site has low salt content. Broken basalt, deeper soils, bottom of valley in Warrigal, Gippsland.
NOSE: White blossom, apple, tropical feijoa, hazelnuts and cream.
PALATE: Pristine citrus and orchard fruits balance a weighty but vibrant
texture. A long saline mineral finish adds refined complexity and a distinctive sense of place. Patrick’s notes.
