Mount Pleasant 'Mount Henry' Shiraz Pinot Noir 2022
WAS $44. NOW PRICED AT 20% OFF = $35
It’s 82% Shiraz (65 Rosehill) with the remainder being Mothervine Pinot Noir.
GW: Deep, dark fruit, earthy and spicy, iron filings, boysenberry, slight green stalk and peppermint. Juicy red and black fruit, a bit of chew and slightly rugged tannin, hazelnuts, a somewhat chalky and nutty finish. It’s not quite together as yet, but interesting and full of character. 91+ points.
KS: Smells dark, black-fruited at first, toasty and nutty, oak sits atop with coffee aromas, and it just feels a bit angular. This release seems more Shiraz-y to me than the last year’s one that, even though had a similar blend proportion, looked more Pinot-esque. There are black olive tones with oily herb rub, dark chocolate tannin. Good weight, intensity, length. It seems, it doesn’t feel comfortable in its skin yet. Loving the fleshy, chewy black olive, however. 93+ points
