Mount Majura Silurian Brut 2021

Mt. Majura is a bit of a dark horse when it comes to Canberra producers. The Tempranillo gets the attention but the Silurian (when it is made – only in cooler vintages) is delicious. Chardonnay (75%) & pinot noir (25%) make up the blend; the chardonnay lending very fresh citrus and green apple fruit backed by a touch of mineral. Some time on lees and the use of a small proportion of older oak offer some creamy, yeasty complexity. Perfect aperitif style. FWC
