Mac Forbes Woori Yallock ‘Ferguson' Pinot Noir 2022

Mac recently (July 2025) hosted a small trade event, opening a raft of wine he has produced over the past two decades, going back to his 2006 Woori Yallock Chardonnay (which looked great, by the way). As part of the tasting, the new single site 2022s were released and shown for the first time. As is often the case for us in here at Five Ways, the Woori Yallock 'Ferguson Vineyard' wines shone most brightly.

The Pinot is its usual self with an array of floral aromatics springing from the glass: rose petal and peonies most evident. On the palate the wine shows the authenticity and transparency that Mac's wines are known for: cool and pure flavours of cranberry and glazed red cherry and dehydrated strawberry. seen with high definition. Woori's trademark savoury edges then appear in the form of light brown twig and kindling. Overall, this is a wine of prettiness, elegance and definition.
