Jasper Hill Emily's Paddock 2022
Lots of aromatic lift here: blue florals, garrigue, violets and black tea. There's certainly a density here, but again it is off set by the beauty of the perfume and the finesse that the wine exudes. Flavour profiles swing between red and blue fruit, with hints of ash and walnut scattered throughout, too. The tannin profile is youthful and firm but very fine, leaving an overall impression of pure class. - Ches Cook, FWC.
Dark, inky and opaque in the glass. Deep, brooding aromas of graphite, ferrous earth, florals, smoked meats, spice and pepper. Full bodied, rich, mouth-filling and multi-faceted. Very pure and dark fruit driven with real depth, presence and purity. The tannins are firm, textured and deliver shape and savouriness and the acidity has brightness and lift. A compelling shiraz, with power and precision. Drink 2023-2038. 96 points, Aaron Brasher, The Real Review, August 2023.
