Grosset Polish Hill Riesling 2026

The 2026 vintage was a very dry vintage with a very low yield. The are wines born in the vineyard. If anyone spends more time in the vineyard with his Riesling babies, I am yet to meet him (her) When Grosset started in the Clare Valley (include here Polish Hill) the Europeans had already cleared the land. Therefore Grosset had to rebuild the site , then become organic, then become biodynamic.It has been a long journey, yet one greatly worthwhile  - year in year ourt the vintage is particular, yet it seems to me always excellent. The slate (blue if choosing colours) is 3 metres down, fishing for flavour intensity,  delicate lemon and lime blossom and the kind of mineral drive you can only achieve at this depth. Bone dry and chalky with a wonderful chalkiness. A little extra textural presence on the back provides body with lime persistence. Excellent now, yet drinking my last bottles from the early 2000’s has been well worth the wait. (2005 my favourite) WOW ! Highly recommended. Ian Cook, FWC.

This is a fantastic expression of Polish Hill. It's very, very minerally, almost an alpine-river kind of feel, with wet slate, some aniseed, dashes of lime rind, pleasingly bitter green apple notes, wet fern and succulent pink grapefruit and talc through the finish. The perfume is a quiet cavalcade of jasmine florals, citrus fruit and alpine herbs. So sleek, trim and superiorly long and fine boned. It's got intensity and energy to burn. And it's so very thirst-quenching and refreshing. 96+ points, drink 2026-2040, Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion.

Pink grapefruit, fresh lime, aniseed, thyme and assorted herbs, with something of a violet and lavender perfume. This is very stony and strict, a little grainy grip, light but intense with lime zest and perfume on a tight quinine-laced finish of excellent length. A classic vintage for this wine. Cool but perfectly formed. 93 points, The Wine Front,  16 August 2026.
