Elderslie Pinot Blanc 2023

Elderslie is a project lead by Adam and Nikki Wadewitz and David Lemire MW (Adam and David both current CEOs of Shaw+ Smith). With Elderslie, the three are looking to champion varietals that are appropriate to the Adelaide Hills despite not being planted widely throughout. Adam came past the shop last week and these wines are probably his best to date under this label…

The Pinot Blanc caught our attention immediately. I find the varietal generally carries more purity than its wildly more popular cousin Pinot Gris/Grigio yet my preference lies here. This wine shows white floral aromatics with a nutty/savoury edge to the palate reminiscent of some northern Italian examples. – Ches Cook, Five Way Cellars.  

Made a la Chardonnay, barrel ferment with full solids and handled gently in the winery. Salty, layered and long, there is just enough richness on the approach and chewy texture within the mid palate to feel complete. Pair with Calamari or a salty dish. Mitch Milicich FWC
