Chain of Ponds Section 400 Pinot Noir 2023

We were on the hunt for a new and affordable Aussie Pinot when we came across this from Chain of Ponds. it ticks all the boxes for us: bright and juicy, light but with good length and carry of flavour, and a pleasant finish which strikes the right balance between primary fruit and just a hint of drying tannin. A simple but enjoyable Pinot that will satisfy many thirsty customers this season. - Ches Cook, FWC. 

It's a neat and tidy pinot noir of genial character, tart cherry juice with some light clove spice, a touch of pepper, some medicinal elements, and in that, offers a decent rendition of the variety. That being said, this is very basic stuff, quite pale in its overall presence in the glass and palate. Of course, a good chill and a sunny day will change the perspective on consumption. It's fine and dandy for its ilk of a lighter, leaner, elementary expression in that regard. 88 points, drink 2023-2026, Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion.
