Joshua Cooper - Regional Release 2025

We had the pleasure of Joshua Cooper visiting us in the store today showing his 2025 regional series release. After the unfortunate loss of his museum stock in the recent Harcourt bushfires, the 2025 wines were a point of great positivity.

The range of wines are looking seamless and so balanced on release. They offer exceptional value and speak to the style and or variety perfectly. All the wines come strongly recommended with quantities being strictly limited. Mitch Milicich, FWC

Our 2025 Chardonnay was sourced entirely from the weathered granite slopes of the Dash Farms vineyard - the same site as our single vineyard offering (to be released later in the year).

A slightly longer pressing and ageing solely in a combination of old French oak and stainless steel has resulted in a beautiful Chardonnay with all the hallmarks of our house style, while also presenting a wonderful drinkability in youth.

Aromatically floral and inviting with jasmine blossom, lemon zest and subtle crushed stone, the palate is focused and precise, with lemon and faint green almond flavours, yet offers lovely concentration of flavour and finely mouth coating texture. Cellar into the medium term or enjoy now in youth. Winery note

Delicious drinking. Lemon curd, lemongrass, lemon verbena with dashes of red apple, peach, vanilla and touches of flint with saline minerality. It’s got a nice haze to texture, a gentle and soft flow, a touch diffuse perhaps but refreshing anyways. Perfume rolls out with green apple, green mango, salted cashew and faint clove and herbal lift. Delightful. Everything just so. Good freshness too. Happy days.  93 pts, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front

Great texture and balance achieved with 80% barrel ferment and more solids in the mix this year. The Chardonnay is open and heady, fleshy and approachable. A very smart rendition. Mitch Milicich, FWC

Stylistically inspired from the wines of Tavel, in the South of France. The Light red is mostly a Shiraz & Pinot blend that feels effortless and confident. The fruit is composed and sits in a nice space of drinkability with Josh commenting it’s versatility with food makes it very commonly opened at home.   Mitch Milicich, FWC

A very pretty wine, a festive sweeter red berry core with dashes of lesser sung spice, some brown, some pink, some floral, then the rose hip tea, the cranberry drink, with that bitterness, some saline minerality, alpine herbs and a kind of wild raspberry twang. The fruitiness could be tempered by more savoury elements and a shimmy of tannins would be nice, but in the end, the drinkability is all here, the playful nature of the wine writ large. A good time ahoy! 92 pts, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front

My pick of the wines on offer, offering full blown pinosity at a budding price. Floral, complex, delicate, measured spice and tannin. Buy up! Mitch Milicich, FWC

Produced in much the same style as our well-known ‘Doug’s Vineyard’ cuveé, though hailing from the exposed granite soils of Dash Farms.

Bright ruby red, and immediately inviting, dark red cherry, exotic spices and woody herb aromatics fill the glass, with a subtle flinty, smoky complexity. The palate as is usual for our style is full of plump red cherry and spicy complexity, structured by fresh acid and fine, powdery tannins which lend plenty of seriousness to this early release wine.

Open and appealing at present, this Pinot Noir will also reward medium term cellaring with additional complexity and nuance. A wonderful weekday wine, or introduction to our style. Winery Note

Claret done so well, feels assured and tight and also fun and forward. The Merlot in the blend speaks strongest and is highly recommended.  Mitch Milicich, FWC

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec, made in a slightly softer and more fruit-forward style than our other Cabernet wines, though with enough structure to enjoy both now or later.

Bright garnet in colour, the Claret is full of blood plum, cassis and creamy black cherry fruit, while subtle tobacco, violet and iodine add complexity. Plush and full of purple berry fruit, the palate is light enough for luncheon drinking, yet also has enough stuffing and structure to take serious food matching, or some time in the cellar. 2025 is a particularly strong vintage for this wine and sadly made in quite limited quantity due to the dry season. Winery note
