“Giaconda, the winery and four hectare vineyard Kinzbrunner established back in the early 1980’s, might just be the greatest wine estate in Australia. That’s no small claim. But let’s look at the facts. Every wine Giaconda makes is outstanding.”
Huon Hooke, The Sydney Morning Herald
“These wines have a super-cult status and, given the tiny production, are extremely difficult to find; they are sold chiefly through restaurants and by mail order. All have a cosmopolitan edge befitting Rick Kinzbrunner’s international winemaking experience. The Chardonnay is one of Australia’s greatest.”
James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2016
“In July 2006, Rick Kinzbrunner was voted one of the top ten white wine makers in the world by Decanter Magazine. My own tasting of these wines, especially Chardonnay and Shiraz, over the past few years echo all the great reviews. I would suggest drinking your chardonnays that are 2005 and older now while at the height of their powers. Last year I had a bottle of 2006 Chardonnay over two nights. The amount of complexity, funk and interest in the wine is more than you will find in any Australian Chardonnay. The Estate Shiraz 2014 blew off all-comers at an International Shiraz tasting on Wed 21 June 2017.”
Ian Cook, FWC

Giaconda Estate Chardonnay 2018
En-Primeur $120 (RRP $150)
MAGNUM En-Primeur $300 (RRP $375) very limited
Evolving beautifully in our underground granite cellar. Reminiscent of the 2010 chardonnay, this wine exhibits matchstick, funky reduction, white peach, tangelo peel, grapefruit and hazelnut. Multilayered, fresh and elegant with tremendous persistence that finishes with a strong mineral impact and signature aromatics of the Estate Vineyard site. [En Primeur barrel tasting notes]
Giaconda Estate Vineyard Shiraz 2018
En-Primeur $79 (RRP $100)
Exceptionally complex, dark and brooding. Smoked meats, gun flint, briary undergrowth and dark fruits are complimented by elegant floral notes. The utterly beguiling aroma is matched by a round and textural palate which is packed with wild berry fruits. Savoury tannins build on a long, spicy and complete mouthful of flavours. [En-Primeur barrel tasting notes]
Giaconda Warner Vineyard Shiraz 2018
En-Primeur $79 (RRP $100)
An incredible nose of exotic spices, dark fruits and blackberry, underpinned by alluring minerality. The palate is rich and lush reminiscent of dark chocolate. This wine offers the full spectrum of complex red and dark berry fruits and finishes on intense notes of graphite and slate. Very fine tannins linger and help to reinforce the graphite minerality. A wonderful return to form from the Warner Vineyard, almost too complex to describe at this stage. We look forward to observing its evolution in barrel over the next year. [En-Primeur barrel tasting notes]
