Cellar Release – Aged Australian Icons (Plus One Kiwi).

An Article by Five Way Cellars staff member Jeremy Muller.

There are few things in the world that can capture a moment in time and leave us with a visceral impression. Many will immediately envision a striking photograph or another medium of visual art, however a perfectly aged bottle wine can stir up memories, emotions and pleasure like no other. Some of the most memorable bottles and experiences with wine for me have been shared with friends and family over a conversation provoking aged wine. Whether it was a stunning 1989 Penfolds Bin 389 taking the show after serious line-up of Burgundy and Barolo, or a fascinating comparison of 1998 Chateau Montrose and 1998 Moss Wood Cabernet. I relish any opportunity I have to try impeccably cellared wine and have been fortunate to access it through others collections.

In that vein, we have been lucky over the years to have been able to purchase portions of our incredible customers cellars and have access to well cellared wine to offer to you. Recently we have been able to access some stunning iconic Australian and New Zealand cuvees across a range of maturities. From the regal Cabernets of Mount Mary, Moss Wood and Te Mata to the awesome Shiraz’ of Torbreck Runrig, Mt Langi Ghiran and Lehman Stonewell. All stored perfectly since release in cellars we know and trust.

For most of us who do not have the ability nor space to store such wines, this an amazing opportunity to reminisce via these matured beauties or have the next centrepiece to a celebration. We are always in such a hurry, much to the bemoan of many a winemaker, here you can enjoy a vino at its intended and possibly transformative maturity.
