Mee Godard Beaujolais Villages 2022
$62
Mee Godard's story is fascinating, one to look up if you do not know it already.
Burgundy prices have clearly gone berserk and is largely out of the casual drinking price point, so if you haven't caught on yet then please start to explore Beaujolais. It hits many of the spots Pinot Noir does.
The nose here is so seductive with sweet cherry and raspberry, spices galore and lovely floral element of violets and peonies. Only medium bodied, the succulent fruit is energised by the lively acidity and ripe, suave tannin that adds a nuanced savoury, earthy close. A step above most Beaujolais Villages, drink this on its own or even better with some cured meats. Jeremy Muller, FWC.
