Massolino Parafada Barolo 2019
Here you get the total concentration of Serralunga fruit. The fruit is darker, black cherry, a hint of black licorice and loads of spice - still very aromatic – but in a robust way. The palate is powerful, rich and strong – I wrote concentration of chalk, mineral, possibly even iodine yet with a creamy textured overlay. Excellent though best to hide this one in the cellar. Ian Cook, FWC.
“The 2019 Barolo Parafada is a wine of tremendous inner strength, as if all of its energy is focused inwards. Dark cherry, smoke, leather, gravel, scorched earth and licorice slowly come alive in the glass. Dense, potent and muscular, the 2019 offers tons of textural intensity and brooding, virile power. It is fascinating to taste next to the Margheria, which is a bit more aromatic and nuanced, while the Parafada is all muscle. This is one of the best editions I can remember tasting.” 96 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous.
“Dark cherry, liquorice, earthy and stony. Powerful, dark cherry, ferrous, the tannins are rich and strong, but ripe, spicy too, with a bold and firm finish of exceptional length. This is textbook Serralunga; all the gravel and gravitas. So ‘mineral’. So bloody good.” 96 points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
