Benoit Droin Chablis Grand Cru ‘Grenouilles’ 2020
$305
Note: from a .50 ha parcel of 55+ year old vines aged in 60% wood.
An appealingly layered nose mixes notes of green fruit, mineral reduction and various citrus elements with a hint of algae. The round, delicious and anise-inflected flavors are at once caressing and mouth coating thanks to the abundance of sappy dry extract that buffers the moderately firm acidity shaping the lingering finish. This will need to develop better complexity, but the projected aging curve should permit it to improve. Drink 2027+. 91-94 Points. Allen Meadows, Burghound.com.
