Traviarti Nebbiolo 2022
I have fond memories of 1st tasting Simon Grant's stable of wines in the back of the shop and hearing his approach in the vineyard, winemaking and on the Beechworth region. His thoughtful approach is clearly seen in the detail of his wines and their clarity.
This Nebbiolo is sourced from his home vineyard which at 600m elevation provides the ideal alpine climate for Nebbiolo to excel like it does in the hills of Barolo and Barbaresco.
The nose is a beguiling mix of poached raspberry, fennel and rose petals sitting behind. On the palate its medium bodied with red fruits perfectly supported by refreshing acidity and a framework of fine tannin. I loved the elegance and restraint of the fruit in the wine, qualities common to the wines of Barolo. It's a terrific example of why some of the best Nebbiolo's in Australia are coming out of Beechworth. Savour and enjoy. Cameron, FWC.
