By Farr Viognier 2022
The cool vintages of late are perfect for this variety and for the Farr family. There’s none of the goopy oiliness often seen in the variety, yet it still maintains the generosity Viognier lovers embrace. Aromas and flavours of poached pear, marzipan, clove and nutmeg remind me of comforting times – or maybe more so hedonistic imbibing. Overt yet nuanced, weighty yet enough acidity. Certainly one of the best Viogniers I’ve had of late. Jeremy Muller, FWC.
This is really compelling. In fact it’s refreshing first and foremost, in that it’s riven with fresh apple and nectarine flavours – energetic, mouthwatering – but then it’s punched with apricot kernel and riverstones, chalk and ginger-spice-like characters too, which is where the compelling aspect comes in. It feels powerful. It extends long. It washes through the mouth and brings you back for more, refreshed. It’s a fantastic white wine, saline-almost, all fruit and stones, spice and steel. Drink 2024-2028+. 94+ Points. Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
