Vignerons Schmolzer & Brown 'Brunnen' Pinot Noir 2022
True to producer style, this wine is all about purity and transparency. Where other Beechworth producers make much fuller-bodied Pinots, this is medium bodied at most, but without any sacrifice of flavours. My note reads: red liquorice, brown spice, and nice integration of acid. Fine-boned and super elegant with amaro flavours towards the back end. Overall, beautifully weighted and lifted. - Ches Cook, FWC.
Beechworth pinot noir shines in a tough, cool and wet vintage ? impressive! Structure is a prime feature here together with cool-climate pinot fruit, racy and super bright, jumping in cherry and red berries, bramble, earth and autumnal, leafy aromatics. Leads to a deep walk in the woods with earth and undergrowth, dried herbs, red berries and briar before a long glide to the finish, wrapped tightly in fine tannin and brisk acid crunch. Drink to 2032. 95 Points, Jeni Port, Halliday's Wine Companion.
