Picture is for the Pinot Noir, but it’s close enough: just imagine the word ‘Gamay’ in its place. It’s an upgrade to my way of thinking anyway. Chris Tyrrell tells me this sold out in three weeks, though may be available if you look around, though largely this is ‘for the record’. Sees only old puncheons and 50% whole bunch. Stylish.
Spice, red cherry and almond, a little mint/fennel, subtle earthiness. It’s light to medium-bodied, crisp and fresh, acid driven but still has a gentle lick of emery tannin, a delicate juiciness, lip-smacking ease of drinking appeal, and a savoury red fruited finish of fine length. It’s a delight. Keep your eye out for the next one. 93 Points, Drink 2019-2025. - Gary Walsh, Wine Front
