Always a wine I really look forward to trying ever since the first release in 2012 which really blew me away. This 2018 release is just getting started on its journey, and as such it is yet to fully reveal itself. Aromatics are slightly shy at first but do show some citrus fruit and lemon balm. It seems very youthful and tight with energy at this stage. The palate though does show some softness and approachability, perhaps showing the positive signs of a warmer vintage, particularly off the back of the cool 2017 growing season. Despite its linear frame, as the glass slowly comes towards room temperature the layers of fruit begin to show themselves. It is not rich but rather deep: meal and oat sit below white fleshed stone fruit. I see some nuttiness developing with time, although that is some years away. All the components are there and while delicious now, just a bit of patience will bring even greater satisfaction. – Ches Cook, FWC.
“An exceptional chardonnay with a wealth of very fresh and slightly flinty lemon, grapefruit, white-peach and grilled-hazelnut aromas. The palate has such grace and well-defined, pure lemon and grapefruit, as well as white and yellow peaches. The toasted-hazelnut afterglow is stunning. Hints of praline, too. So elegant, pristine and pure. Exceptional.” Score 98 points. James Suckling – June 2019
