Sourced from the Swallowfield vineyard in Upper Yarra which is planted over granite soils. These soils are shallow and porous meaning very little water is held. As such, fruit grown here needs to work hard for nutrients, producing small, tight berries with thick skins. This results in firm and tannic wines that are built to last. With this wine, all of this rings true but sitting on top of this firm structure is a really beautiful wine. Coming out of a slightly cooler vintage, this has lovely red fruits that glide across the palate showing raspberry and sour cherry. There’s a fleshiness to the wine and immediate appeal making it very easy to consume from a young age however this will certainly age very well over 5-7 years. 100% destemmed (as opposed to many of Timo’s other wines). We expect this to disappear quickly as it is only made in small amounts – be quick. – Ches Cook, FWC.
