The irrepressible Timo Mayer has done it again, this time with his entry level Pinot Noir ‘Bloody Hill’. Fragrant and lifted red fruits segue into a palate that is bright and loaded, full of succulent cherry pippy fruit. The colour may be light, but the persistence is long and fine. Riper than the 2017 and closer in style to 2016, the wine over delivers in spades and is outstanding value for the quality. This will gain more complexity over the medium term but is great drinking now. - Todd Slater, FWC.
