Thomas Synergy Semillon 2020
A bloody difficult vintage for all in the Hunter, yet Thommo has made a silk purse from a sow’s ear. With a substantial sacrifice that is. A lot of his beloved Braemore Vineyard fruit has gone into the wine to retail a little over half the price of Braemore. Fuller and softer than classic Hunter Semillon, this is ready to go immediately. Hints of fresh lime leaf with light florals and a softer, easy lemon curd flavour and texture. Quite fleshy in the mid-palate. Not the normal twang of acidity, yet a delicious Summer drink. Ian Cook, FWC.
“The lions share of vineyards that would normally go together for our Synergy Semillon blend are the Braemore, C and Fordwich Hill. However, the 2020 vintage Synergy Semillon is 100% Braemore Semillon. This wine delivers outstanding quality for every day drinking at an amazingly affordable price. A brilliant pale yellow/green in colour, this wine has a generosity of fruit not usually expected in Hunter Semillon. Floral aromas of orange blossom, Thai spices and lanolin dance around the glass, and are kept in check by a liner, lime-like focus. The palate offers pleasing flavours with ripe pear and lemon/melon fruit, and a lengthy, subliminally taut acidity providing a pleasant freshness to the finish. An absolute perfect accompaniment to fresh seafood dishes. Seriously smashable.” Thomas Wines.
