Tapanappa Foggy Hill Definitus Pinot Noir 2017
‘17 gave Foggy Hill the growing season and vintage it craved for. In terms of varietal character, texture, structure, balance and length the wine can't be faulted. It is by some distance the best Foggy Hill Pinot Noir made to date. What will the ensuing vintages provide? Drink to 2032. 97 points - James Halliday
It’s light, firm and immensely spicy. Roots, leaves, earth and wood combine with strawberry, red cherry, beet and violets. There’s a geranium-like character here; it’s a complex wine, inherently complex. Its charms are clean and yet its sleeves are well stocked; it has a lot more in store for the patient, cork permitting. Impressive, this wine is.Drink : 2022 - 2027+. 94+ Points - Campbell Mattinson, The WInefront
Complex and cerebral, much like its maker, this is a wine of precisely etched detail and balletic grace. It opens with an aromatic array of beautifully ripe forest berries and soft florals that flow through to the palate and are joined by delicate souk spices and a seam of earthy savouriness. The palate starts seductive, then gets serious. The vibrancy and freshness upfront leads to a wine of almost surprising structure, its perfectly composed tannins building in the mouth like a mushroom cloud of exploding sandstone. If any wine can live up to such a lofty moniker, this is it. – Nick Ryan (ex FWC employee), The Australian
