Stormy weather in spring disrupted flowering, impacting fruit set and final yields. The resulting wines are intensely flavoured as warm summer temperatures had no problem ripening the meagre crop. The hallmark of this site is its significant acid retention due to its altitude and easterly aspect. Pinot Noir from Ghostgum is muscular and brooding. Three blocks contributed to the final blend: D2V5 clone planted on own roots in 1994, 115 clone planted on own roots in 1999, and 777 clone planted on rootstock in 2002. All blocks were hand picked on 21st March. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBright ruby red in colour with a touch of maroon. Aromas of juniper, aniseed, wild raspberry and graphite with some undergrowth in the background. This is a tightly wound and structured Pinot Noir, with blood plum, rhubarb and peppery spice on the palate. Complex and long. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe extremely low crops led to the decision to pick all three clones on the same day. The whole bunch component was wound back in 2024 to 12.5%. The wine spent 12 days on skins in an open pot. Pressed to French oak (25% new) for 12 months before racking off malo lees to bottle. The final wine is unfined and unfiltered.
