Located \"only five minutes by tractor\" from their home vineyard, Paul says with a smirk, the vineyard was planted in 2018 and is managed by Paul and Gillie. They keep half the fruit and close neighbour Jim Chatto also gets a share. The wine is fantastic for multiple reasons, but most exciting is how it slides straight into the Sailor Seeks Horse mould of what Pinot Noir looks like in their hands. It's an entirely composed and elegant wine, silky in texture but with underlying earth-derived textures and flavours (soil composition is a mix of basalt, river stones and mudstone). Illumine has a pretty exterior but real substance below the surface. Aromas are high-toned and floral in nature while flavours span wild strawberry, cherry skin and ripe raspberry. The aromatics keep appearing as you swirl and sip. Integration of tannin is flawless, especially for a wine that has only been in bottle for a month (as of October 2026).
