In the Ganzhorn, a small sub parcel of colored sandstone in the Im Sonnenschein vineyard, Riesling turns salty, savory and fantastically mineral-driven.
From sandstone soils, the 2018 Ganz Horn Riesling GG is intensely pure and stony on the nose but also deep and fruity, very elegant and promising. Crystalline and precise on the palate, with enormous salinity and tensioned purity, this is an exciting, lean, fresh and linear yet also juicy and tightly woven dry Riesling in the classic Rebholz style: super clear, precise, fresh and very fine, in this case with mealy tannins. Tasted in Wiesbaden in August 2019 and in my home office in January 2020. Drink 2024-2040, 95 Points - Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
Bright lemon drizzle cake, light dried cloves, loquat, nectarines and fresh herbs. Very dry and very steely with resounding purity of citrus fruit and orange-blossom undertones. Full-bodied, very textured and long. Drink now or hold. 96 Points - James Suckling
