Powell & Son GSM 2018
This was looking great when tasted recently (April 2022). All varieties seem to be playing to their strengths and creating a seamless and uniform package. It's medium bodied and driven by the Grenache which brings aromatic lift and an approachability to the fruit. In fact, the liveliness of this wine was a pleasant surprise and a far cry from some of the dense, heavy reds that we often see coming out of the Barossa. The Shiraz component provides the substance and depth of flavour, with the Mataro bring some trademark grumblings of pot ash and rustic charm to the finish. - Ches Cook, FWC.
