Sangiovese is the grape variety of Chianti in Tuscany. Pizzini makes one of the very best examples in Australia. The nose is vibrant and fresh, intensely perfumed with lifted notes of spice, red berries and dark cherries. As the wine opens, there are lovely herbal and savoury characters with bright cherry fruit at its core. It has chalky tannins that line the palate as well as woodsy spice notesand even a hint of Tuscan sweet and sour. A charming, medium bodied, European-style wine. - Ian Cook FWC.
