Pietradolce Etna Rosso 2018
Pietradolce sits high on the slopes of Mt Etna with its ‘sweet stone’ minerality derived from the volcanic soil and the cool nights and warm days endowing the wines with a precision, richness, minerality, fragrance and depth unique to this microclimate.
The noble Nerello Mascalese grape performs at its best at 500 metre altitude on the famed northern side of Mt Etna.
Pale colour, with lots of orange, cherry and fragrant spices. Light, yet complex and very mineral and persistent. Almost a little gamey/meaty complexity to add to its fresh acid length. Chill slightly for summer. Highly recommended. – Ian Cook, FWC
