Outstanding chardonnay terroir. Altitude 400 metre. Loamy, granitic soil over a rich clay base. Directly opposite the mighty Saveterre. A disproportinate number of Australia;s great chardonnays come from Beechworth. Layers of stone fruit, cashew, nougat and a touch of flint, with beautiful minerally acidity keeping it in check. The balance and tension between fruit, acid and seductive richness make it classic Beechworth.  Drank a couple of bottles over a long lunch on Sunday. Ian Cook - FWC
